Integration Camps

The Aim of the programme is to inculcate a spirit of communal harmony and national integration among the youth and spirit of oneness for nation building is the need of the honour by organising short-term residential camps of the youth with a view to instill the spirit of national integration and communal harmony through various camp activities.

Group discussions, debates, lectures, essay and elocution competitions on the theme of national integration and communal harmony, Spiritual discourses, Yoga and meditation, cultural programmes which promotes national integration and communal harmony.

BACKGROUND:

National integration remains a crucial issue in India, notwithstanding the fact that we boast of a civilization, which is nearly 5000 years old. To inculcate a spirit of communal harmony and national integration among the youth and to inculcate the spirit of oneness for nation building is the need of the hour. Thus, the programme emphasizes need of promotion of National Integration and the Department of Youth Services would like to take such small but significant step in this direction.

Objective:

To organize short-term residential camps of the youth with a view to instill the spirit of national integration and communal harmony through various camp activities.

Activities:

Group discussions, debates, lectures, essay and elocution competitions on the theme of national integration and communal harmony, Spiritual discourses, Yoga and meditation, cultural programmes which promotes national integration and communal harmony.

Other Stipulations:

The holding of Integration Camp would be subject to the following stipulations:
a) The duration of the camp should not normally be less than 3 days and more than 5 days.
b) Number of participants per district should be 30; however, it may vary at the discretion of the authorities.
c) The resource persons should be from among eminent Professors/Lecturers, Sports Persons, spiritual leaders, school/college teachers or retired teachers or any other persons of eminence.
d) National Service Volunteers, members of active youth clubs, non-governmental organizations should be associated with the conduct of Integration Camp.

Eligibility:

Youth between the age group of 18 to 35 years.

Preference will be given to:

a) Non-students, members of NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, Members of Youth Clubs, Sports persons, National/State Youth Awardees etc.,
b) Volunteers working in the field of community development.
e) Both male and female (preferably 50:50), S.C. ST., BC, specially-abled, destitutes, orphans, minority communities.
